Stories at Inspire

We visited a fantastic group of women at Inspire today. We took a selection of museum objects and discussed how they related to objects and activities today. There was much talk of knitting, crocheting, woodwork, superstitions, what we keep and what we throw away, and the history of Southwark, as well as some delicious lemon drizzle cake. Here are a few things I wrote in response….

Acorn

A lightning flash –
cover the mirrors
hide the silver.

Paper

I keep them in a box –
the one my 21st key came in.

Birthday cards
a bookmark
my co-op card.

Paper treasures.

Wood

He worked with wood:
a satin-covered sewing box
a cutlery drawer
a cabinet.

There’s a story
he made pips for jam
in the war.
